The Road To Wollombi Pub

Postby Fuzzlet » Sun Jul 29, 2007 4:38 pm

Just went for a fang from Hornsby to Wollombi pub with a few mates. That road is excellent, nice and twisty...except for the parts where there's pothole repairs ontop of pothole repairs, and its a mission just to keep the car pointing in the right direction. The pub was a really nice place for lunch....me thinks I'll have to talk to CB about a club run there

Well........it was fun till the safety nazis descended on it and droped most of the speed limits to 80kmh. Be warned that it's not unheard of for the boys in blue to be out there looking for ratbag motorcyclists.

You should have continued on to Broke. There's about 500m of dirt road just after Wollombi but then the rest of the road is sealed. That road is a real hoot. One of my favourites though not particularly very safe. It's tight and very narrow in some places which is part of the fun.

That wouldnt surprise me.......I was able to keep an avg speed of 100 inbetween corners....and would have the bikies going round me...

Which road from Hornsby did you take?

As far as I can tell, there's a road from Wiseman's Ferry, via St Albans, that looks super twisty to Wollombi (part of this is the great north road), but I'm not sure if this road has been closed to traffic... If anyone knows whether this road is driveable, I'd love to know.

Or, did you go up the pacific hwy, then deviate to Central Mangrove, to get there?

Cheers,
James.

We went up the Old Pac then diverted along Peats Ridge Road.....The road from Wisemans to Wollombi via St Albans looks twisty, but its also a dirt road...I've ridden it on push bike before....not a pleasant ride to say the least...
