nb lights how to pull apart??

hey guys does anyone know how to pull the lense off the rear off the headlight, they have some glue that is quite hard, ive been told that with the glass ones you can stick them in the oven but we are stuck on the plastic covers

I know someone who used a headgun. He fitted one of these Halo/Angel eyes (aka BMW parking lights) on the low bean projector lights of his NB8B.

But not sure, I'd want to remove the factory seal - could cause some fogging later on.

Do you want to color code part of the reflectors or just remove that tacky orange plastic that makes the headlights look cross eyed ?

Stick them in the oven for a bit and the glue softens up. There's a few write ups on the internet and in miatanet about it. I'm not sure of the numbers but it was something like preheat the oven to 200deg then put a headlight in for 5 to 10 min then start prising the lens off. If the glue gets too hard warm the light up in the over again and continue.

I've seen a few pics of the oven method and when you get the timing wrong be prepared to see your headlight warped. Not a pretty sight.

yeh i found it thanks guys, after reading it i gathered that its 200f not 200c so unless you want melted headlights its 90deg C..

will be pulling them apart in the next few days

I was asking because you don't need to pull the lights apart for to remove the orange lens.

Hey okibi, i want to paint the insides like the sp

i got a spare set of lights so will be having a play with them to see what i can do with them

Unfortunately the dark headlights weren't on the SP, they were on the SE. The best part of the SE IMO.

Yeah, they definitely look the goods. It's not quite the carbon fibre black look, but they're darkened just that right amount to give them that edge of aggressiveness. Although that's for the front lights. Haven't really paid much attention to the rear end lights.
