The five got keyed today at uni. I dont understand this kind of vandalism. It is pointless and you get nowhere doing it. Scum of the earth sort of thing (still fuming about it, can you tell?)
Anyways, the gouge is about 40cm long and goes down to bare metal for about 5cm. Have got touch up paint and have filled the gouge so that it is higher than the panel surface. Just wondering what to do next. I was thinking about getting some wet and dry and working up the grit levels till it was shinny and smooth (1000 - 8000grit).
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

If you have already covered the damage with the touch-up paint then you should probably wait a few days to let it dry properly, then very gently rub it back with some 1200 then 1500 and 2000. Once you get the paint smooth then you should be able to get the shine back by using a good swirl remover with a decent buffing pad and polisher.

It's my turn for my pride and joy to be keyed by some idiot.
I was returning to the car tonight when I noticed something's amiss on the bodywork.
My fears were confirmed when I saw 3 scratches at the driver's side door, boot and fuel lid.
The positive thing is that the scratches aren't deep, but they are nonetheles visible.
Any detailer that you guys/gals can recommend to fix it up?
I am sure a good machine cut and polish will get rid of it.
What a way to spend my weekend ....
And FYI, my car was parked at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre parking lot.

I share your pain Andy. Its the most mindless gutless thing a low-life could do. If you've got something to say then say it, dont run off like a coward. okay im stopping there otherwise ill write the longest rant ever seen.
Onto the solution
I fixed mine up myself. Mine was particuarly nasty as it was down to metal. Some colour matched paint, some wet and dry sandpaper (1000, 2000, 4000) and some AutoGlym paint renovator and she is as good as new. Take your time and dont rush and you will get a perfect result and save youself a lot of cash. Alternatively you can get someone to do it for you and i cant help you out there.

everyone seem to be having so much bad luck
my mate was keyed tonight luckily I wasn't he drives a stock supra and when we reported it to security they offered no help at all, he has 2 stripes down the whole length of his car now on the passenger side down to the metal. It's amazing, everytime we do anything in the carpark, RC cars, stand around talking security manages to know within 15 seconds and comes out to tell us to move along but this time they didn't see a thing (security office is 20m from where car was parked)
then in the last few months, my car was hit as I went around a roundabout, another mate was rammed while sitting at traffic lights (hit from behind by a 4WD doing 60kph , pushed him into the back of another 4WD) total write off and he only had it 3 weeks nice new WRX worst thing is the dealer was supposed to give him comprehensive insurance for a year but didn't pay for it yet and the guy who hit him is a backpacker from europe with no money so we are still waiting to find out if the dealer will cover the costs because the backpacker can't and insurance won't either, one ran off the road going around a corner too fast(his fault) also write off, the same supra guy was hit from behind while driving (at least he got the guy to pay up) and the worst of all a friend who has had his car for 2 months had it set on fire while it was parked out the front of his house (total write off)
I'm just a little paranoid now

Sorry to hear this JimmyJ5. There's just no point really to this type of act, other than to frustrate the owner. A lot of these people don't realise, just because you have a nice car, doesn't mean you're rich.
My feeling is that people like these, are stupid, thick with low to no intelligence, ignorant and most of all very envious people.
I'm afraid, I share your pain. It has happened to me too.
