Depends.

NA8/NB8 imports will have either an open diff or a torsen. Clutch diffs were never offered as an option so if you find a second hand one it'll be aftermarket.

Stock ratios in Japan are...4.1 and 4.3 for NA8, not sure about the NBs

If yours is a 1.8 diff it will not fit.

I think..... NA6 is 6\"
NA8 onwards they are 7\"
NB8a diffs are therefore too big.

There is no cheap way of getting an LSD.

A complete Torsion centre off the forum is probably the best option or get just the Torsion LSD from someone. Lately they have been selling for around $600 and then you just install it into your diff.

If you want a clutch pack type you need to get a Normally Aspirated N/A Series 4 RX7 type, I believe they have the inside of the side gears machined differently to the series 3 RX7, for the circlips to fit into them. When I have compared 2 sets of side gears there was differences in them.

The ones from mania you need to also factor in fitting the crown wheel to the diff centre. You could use your existing one. If you can't do it yourself add about another $300 on top of that. I think. If you take it to them.....prolly be a lot cheaper

i am seroiusly thinking of removing my 4.1 torsen to fit a 3.9 and 6 speed.

The LSD was out of a 10AE which had done 10000klms and was fitted to my 4.1 crown wheel and pinion at around 56000klms. It is great and has now done 72000klms total for the CWP and about 26000klms for the torsen.

Not a lot of work to fit and i would be looking for $1000 all up.

Ahh so you got the Torsen from Dicks 10AE, I have the motor 8)
I checked the paperwork and it had 7500k's on it.
Good to see that a few of us can benifit from others mishaps.

Hi Woo,

No it wasn't from that car but from DriftFury, down here in Geelong.

Was the 6 speed still at Dick's?

I have 3.9 lsd, but am looking for a (preferably low klms) 6 speed.

I had the money put away for that before we decided to go overseas and I sold the Italia.

I'm fairly sure Dick still has the 6 sp and hasn't sold it yet. I will check this afternoon when I call in (new steering rack for me) I'll let you know how much he wants for it.

Are you looking at FI later on Peter? If so, I would recommend holding onto the 5 sp as the ratios have a wider spacing so you can take advantage of the increased torque rather than spending all your time changing gears.

Sorry for the hijack travy

Hi Woo,

I rang Dick yesterday but he wasn't in, will try again today.

No I don't think i will ever go Turbo I am happy with the power I have now, just think the closer spacing of the 6 speed will suit my car.

Can anyone tell me if the complete diff from an NB fits into an NA8A without having to change the halfshafts or the tailshaft ;also does an 6 speed require a change of tailshaft to go into an NA8A.?

I have double posted this (same questions in For Sale section), Sorry
