URGENT!! - wheel lock nut qtn (center)

Postby Insurgence » Sat Jul 14, 2007 1:40 pm

Hello.

I am tryig to remove the lock nut from the center of the wheel hub (e.g. the one which you have to stake with a chisel)

does this nut undo clockwise or counterclockwise?

e.g. http://www.clubprotege.com/wil/howto/rightaxle/unstakenut.jpg

thanks!

I have done front passenger and rear drivers.

From memory both undid in the normal direction (anti-clockwise).

But both were very tight, requiring a very long breaker bar to undo correctly. The rear one took my snap-on bar (2ft long) and my entire weight (100kg) to undo. I split my finger open when the socket slipped torquing the damn rear one up.

Use a 6point socket for extra safety.

Thanks!!!

I used an impact wrench, worked a treat. tried to find a 6 point but they are quite rare. managed to do it with a 12 point but i would recommend a 6 point as well!
