Well what a day. got two clean runs in then the weather came in and out and in and out. Turbo boy got some good times and the only problem all
day was the ABS working in reverse  when the front brakes locked the ABS applyed the brakes harder :?
So no ABS and no EBC which made braking for turn 2 Interesting
The car had WAY to much rear brakes. this resulted in a few spins :)
after lunch My Bro and I changed cars and now I was in a STOCK 1.6 NA
how boaring the straight is MY GOD you can make a phone call.
All in all a good first outing for Turbo Boy seting a 1:10.23 :) :)
Thanks to all the people who made the Day posible and to the VIC club

well what a day that was... not exactly the most consistent of weather but picking a gap in the drizzle CB still managed to knock a good chunk of Rods lap record in class 5 and was looking at taking a stab at the 1.12s! with some better rubber on the front i think he will have no problems getting well into them.
best i managed on the day was a 1.14.42 after spending most the day getting use to having an extra gear and trying to dial out the oversteer that may have been introducded from my new rear sway bar, placed me 2nd in class and with CB first that made it NSW 1 and 2 with matt 4th on a new PB in the low 1.15s. leaving Sam in 3rd the fastest Vic for the day.

So the interstate cup stays up here with the welshmen (yes matt thats you too :P ) congrats to all that managed new PBs and thanks again to Mike and the rest of the crew for again pulling of a ripper of a day with faultless organising.

Crazy weather today, but lots of fun with the slipping and sliding.
I got a PB for a track day of 11.64, this put me 3rd for the day until......
lap 4 of the reguarlity coming on to the main straight and tried to power in 4th gear and heard a griding noise, tried 5th, even move noise, so I had to limp back to the pits in 3rd.....dam dam dam. So then I had to sit out the of rest of the day watching my time fall to 5th fastest.....dam dam dam.

Despite all this it was great to see the Vics, and the day as well run as always - thanks to the great officals and orgainisors.

oh... thats a bummer you were going really well too any thoughts as to whats died in the box or killed it?

and Russellb i was wondering what made you jump ship to the white car ABS working backwards!? haha that would of been rather scary hope its an easy fix. will be interesting to see how it goes with your new "flashy" brakes and diff installed 8)

turbo girl nailed it with what crazy weather.

Started Cold, stay cold but had heavy drizzle throught out the day.
If you were lucky you got a dry run but never two in a row.

Congratulations to Andrew winning the Class 5 Club Championships.

Also to all those who got PBs, turbo girl and especially to Ian Vickers beating Albert Concha's standard MX5 lap record by about 0.2 seconds in a 1:16.7 something.

I can't get my photos up tonight but will try tomorrow.

Here’s Andrew’s Championship winning Class 5 MX5.

The Sam and the boys from Victoria. Not being a local made it hard for the Vic’s but Sam did an excellent job getting into the 1:14s.

It was a cold day. That made it good for power, especially the turbos, but to offset that the track surface was cold and slippery with the recent rain washing dirt across the track especially just before Turn 3. On the first few laps you went through a cloud of dust in that part of the circuit before the drizzle came down and settled the dust.

I had a scare on the first run of the day arriving in the braking area at the end of the straight and with a hard brake peddle and the car refused to slow. I’d put new Hawk pads in a few weeks ago and obviously they weren’t bedded in or up to temperature. This made getting around the corner very interesting but I made it. Next lap braking was done a lot earlier and after the first session I had no problems.

All in all it was a great day, considering the conditions of the previous week where it looked like the rain would have ruined our fun.

What a day!

Track from skatey to dry and back again several times over the course of the day.

With the slippery conditions meaning that good times were not going to come with ease, I thought I had a shot at taking some points off Andrew.

I was pretty excited to achieve my new PB of 1:15:37, knowing that Andrew's previous best on the day was 1:15:66.

But Andrew overcame his 1-2-5 gear changes to post magnificent times and in that same session dropped into the mid 1:14s with a 1:14:42. Of course, the all conquering 2 litre NC whisked us both away with the new Class 5 lap record. Congrats to Andrew and Phil.

Team Guyder Racing are now looking ahead to the Oran Park Supersprint rounds of July!

Thanks to all the volunteers at the Club who make the MX5 Track Days the best run motorsport event I have attended!

Simply amazing - first time the car turns a wheel in anger and it eases into the 1:10's. Wow. You should go into the race car business 8)

Bad luck TG - I'm sure you could've held your position.

Thanks to John on the flags, Jean at the grid, the timers and of course Mike who pulls it all together. Slow day for me personally. The weather just seemed to throw me out of sorts and I never really got a handle on things. Was probably too circumspect and tentantive.

Must get out more often....

Great to just get there with the rough tune and catch up with forum memebrs Sam and the vic crew..

Most were surprised when they blew past me on the straights, as was I, but like an idiot I had put on the old filter socks for the IRTB's which were by then firmly embedded in the intake, Thanks to those who helped me fish them out...Looking forward to September 's double header Supersprints and club meet

Best time was 4.5 seconds off PB but not for long :D

Just got home from NSW. I've been cruising all over the state on work in the 5 in the rain. Woohoo.

Wanted to say thanks to Mike and the NSW club for running another super event. Congratulations to the NSW competitors for taking out the trophy on home turf. Special well done to irwin83r and Charlie Brown for their great times.
Our guys did really well considering most of them were first timers there and except me, the ones that had been there had only done it in pouring rain. So super effort Vics.

I knocked a second off my pb. Think with better weather conditions I may have gone faster. Hardest compound, nearly bald Kumos in wet cold conditions just didn't cut it but we all had fun.

Looking forward to doing it all again next year in Vic. We might even do Sandown for something different.

Thanks all

Sam

What! the STIG losses it twice, I wouldn't have beleived it untill I watch the video.

I can race for a year without turning the steering wheel as much as the Stig did in one lap!

GO THE STIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better watch out Russell, the next time you lend the STIG your car he will probably set a new lap recorded for Wakefield.
Now with a new toy
