Tarmac rally tyres
Hi Guys,
I'm going the Dutton rally in WA in a couple of weeks and am looking at some new wheels and tyres before then. It's my first outing (yes, probably jumping in a bit, but you only live once) so would appreciate a bit of advice. Currently have 17's with Nexens. Looking at getting some 15x7 and new tyres. Any recommendations? Thinking of keeping the 17's for the street, so the tyres only need to be road legal and capable of wet weather stuff.
Thanks

I'll get quotes on both of those. Are the Ecstas the KU31s? Looks like there are a couple to choose from. Got quoted $185 for the KU31 and $175 for Toyo T1Rs. Would love to get the Dunlops but the budget is getting stretched pretty thin already. Adds up quick, haven't even turned a wheel in anger yet...

No - the Kuhmo Ecstas are the V70A/V700. Same tyre, both numbers are on the sidewall. These are a (very) streetable semi slick whereas the KU31 is more a performance road tyre.

Ppl use the D03 in medium for the entire legth of targa on some lighter cars( And even things like 968's which are 1.5t) which is 2000km with 500km competitive. The Black lambo used the R1 compound D03 and that also lasted all of targa. If you afford it a set of D03 on soft should last dutton. But if you don't want to go through a set of tires per event a set of the med or R1 would be the go.
D03 goes soft-medium-R1-hard
