Here’s my times around Wakefield with your selection bar the Yokohamas.

R-Spec 1:13.48
Michelin Precedas P1 1:15.08
Toyo T1-Rs 1:17.14

There is no comparison to the R-Spec tyres for track use, as I discovered last Monday. For the financial controller’s peace of mind, may I suggest that you look at getting second hand R-Spec tyres and an old set of rims for track day. It’s well worth the effort for times and the saving of your good road tyres. It ended up costing me $500 for rims and tyres for a 1.6 second reduction in lap times.

The lap time for the Toyos was on a hot day so read into that what you like but I should say that I had my bottom spanked by another NC running Michelins at the same meeting. That’s what prompted me to get the R-Spec tyres as I hated the fact that……...well I’ve discussed my feelings on T1-Rs elsewhere.

One of my tyres were just slashed overnight :evil: :evil: :evil: but conveniently for me, it's just about time for me to get a new set of rubber for the car. I've done about 24,000km (including 6 track days) on the original PP1s, so if you're asking me, they've done wonders for me.

Because of this thread and thanks to Garry for his earlier reviews, I've just placed an order for four new PP2s (205/45/17) at $245 each. Does this sound right? That was the cheapest quote I got from a Michelin dealer here in Adelaide (Bob Jane T Mart).

I'm also going to forward them the alignment specifications advised from http://www.aus-cartalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=24776 (special thanks to russs and Charlie Brown - go the Winning Blue!!!)

Front
Caster: 5 deg
Camber: -0.7 deg
Toe: 0.00 deg

Rear
Camber: -1.2 deg
Toe: 0.18 deg

Would these specifications be alright for a regular spirited driver? Mine is a stock NC. Any feedback would be great.

Also, would anybody her trust Bob Jane T Mart to do your wheel alignments? I'm getting the alignment done for free and they don't mind if I bring in my specifications (I haven't had one since new :roll:).

I feel for you buddy; getting roofs slashed and now tyre slashed, bet you're looking forward to coming back to Brissy :lol:.

Good tyre choice, I'm currently running Toyo T1Rs, they're great but don't know how they compare until trying something different.

Alignment wise; with your driving being mainly spirited and track, I recon you'll get better feel and wear with more negative camber. Mine's currently on -1.7/-1.9 (F/R) wears pretty evenly for a daily driver, some say even F/R camber is better, others recon more F then R, I left it up to Fulcrum to decide.
With toe; I've read somewhere that unless it's for race you'll want some toe-in (maybe ~0.5mm on each side), toe-in reduce darting.

Thanks for the tips... In that case I might go for a little more camber. I might just settle for these settings:

Front
Caster: 6.5 deg
Camber: -1.0 deg
Toe: 0.00 mm

Rear
Camber: -1.5 deg
Toe: 0.2 mm

I'm going to resist putting the MX on the track and save that time for the go-kart. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Danny,

Remember that the settings you found from CB and russs are specifically for the NC. They are a little different to the NA and NB specs for good reason...

I'd take their settings as a starting point, then modify from there if you feel the need.
