but seriously u dont want a fc unreliable not a smart option unless u can work on cars yourself and i know for a fact ur not mechanically minded.

u obviously dont know sh*t then black86. my dad is a mechanical engineer and actually built two cars of his own from scratch. and taught me everything he knows. so i'd say i'm pretty mechanically minded. its not that i cant do it, its that i dont have the time. so please dont make assumptions on what you think.

Mountain Runs? Who Here Likes Them?, uphill, downhill, tandem, mt cootha, mt nebo, whatever!

i love my mountain runs, especially mt cootha at the moment. but i dont hear of many others who are into the mountain passes. so i want to find out if there are any other boosters who love the windy mountain roads?

do you go like a bat outta hell, or just a sunday cruise? Uphill, downhill, tandem?

in brisbane we have three main roads that everyone goes to. you have mt gravatt, mt cootha and mt nebo. my personal favourite is mt cootha. just because its fairly high speed with some very technical corners. i see people up there occasionally but no one likes to chat about it

so who out there does mountain runs?

we did a nebo run last night and saw no one. It was so much fun and it's a lot better at night as there's not much traffic and no sunday drivers

nice. we were up cootha last night. it was dead as well. something about 2am in the morning. although the brisbane girls grammar bus pulled up after we got to the top. very strange indeed

The whole idea of mountain runs is to go out and enjoy the roads without being interrupted by people.

thats true, but if you plan right and check your runs before you go then you can have a good time without interuptions.

not to mention farking stupid on mt gravatt and cootha with the amount of tourist trafffic on it,

boost cruising does not condone illegal activites hence why it is not spoken about.

no matter how many scout runs you do it will always be very dangerous animals run out, cars pull out, you may loose your pride and joy, or alot more than that.

i know these things. but i'm not asking who breaks the law. u dont have to go a million miles an hour to have a nice drive. you can just take a leisurely cruise and still have a good time, which is what i want to know? who "ENJOYS" a mountain run. everyones different, its a matter of opinion really.

well, its been an interesting week for me. i got the car back this afternoon….

it hasnt had a tune yet as their is a little worry that the clutch may be slipping but we are checking that out when we replace the gearbox. if thats fine then they are upping the powah straight away.

thing is though, whatever they have done, the car is staying cool even under full load for a long time it still stays at the same temp. i can drive it at full boost for 3 minutes straight and the temp will only rise by one degree.

So in between getting the car back in the afternoon and posting the next morning you had time to visit an off-street racetrack to determine that you could drive at full boost for three minutes straight? Because we know you don’t drive like that on the street.

ah no, because he was bringing up events that happened two years ago. i've moved past that stage. i'm done with my little hooning stage a long time ago

my old GTi-r holds the record for the uphill climb on Mt Cootha of 3mins 45sec beating an R32 gtr by 20 seconds…

i had my friend almost in tears from terror after taking him on a hill climb in it drifting at 90 degree angles to the corners at 160kph.

where is all this about the handling on a GTi-r coming from? they handle very well, just not as well at low speeds. I HAD THE THIRD FASTEST IN QLD PEOPLE! THEY DONT HANDLE POORLY!!!!

boags, a gtr is "supposed" to be the ultimate car in all aspects? how is that not a very good comparison? 20sec on an 8km course isnt too bad.

There is no hillclimb at Mount Cootha, I’m from Adelaide and even I know that. You could have meant the Mount Cotton Hillclimb, but that’s under a kilometer. So for all your talk about having done hillclimbs (and there are way more posts about it) and building a hillclimb car and rallying etc, you haven’t actually done a hillclimb.

So ALL of the stuff you’ve talked about doing in your GTiR (drifting at 160kmh), your R33 (drifting for 2 hours until you killed the clutch) and the MX5 (holding full boost for three minutes, doing “something naughty” that contributed to breaking the diff) has been done on the road.

maybe you should spend a little time getting your facts straight adam before making assumptions about me and what i do.
