lapt times

Postby Novice1 » Sat Jun 16, 2007 12:17 pm

Looking for whats on at qld raceway this weekend I stumbled on national lap times for clubman circuit.
What am I missing when viewing this page?
The only cars to do better than half a dozen Mx5 drivers at Qr on 27-02-07 out of several classes of cars are racing cars.
Eg
RhysK's best time was 1.07.07
Geoff M's time was 1.10.18
These times are lower than Sportscar lap times, sports sedans, super v8's, super tourers, group N cars, Gt production cars.
???? are the discrepancies due to changes in track length, structure?
Yet Mx5's only get one mention from memory on QR national laptimes.

Hi Ron,

Yes, that is on a different track layout. An excellent time for an MX5 is around 1.27 on the \"national\" cucuit, where the V8s do about a 1.20 I believe.

Those times you found were for the \"Clubman\" curcuit, adn there are also times available for the \"Sprint\" curcuit.

I'll dig up a pic... (2 minutes later).. Found.

There are actually 4 different track layouts, but the fourth - \"Sportsman\" curcuit - isn't run very often. I don't even have MSPaint on my computer, so I can't draw each layout for you, hopefully someone can jump in and save the day. :D

Thanks Geoff and Tim:
I, knew there had to be an explanation.

P.S New heavy duty clutch being installed, gearbox fixed, lightened flywheel also being installed, cat back system, and loch cold air intake, heat shielded, plus aggressive wheel alignment.
Expect my car to be ready for next sundays mazda rally.

The quick 2f cars are now down to the 1.23 on the national and I think Brian holds the lap record for 2c with a 1.21.
