Light weight 17s

Postby blackster » Mon Jun 11, 2007 2:54 pm

Im looking for some light weight 17s for the SE, the 17' OEM racing hearts have a x4 stud pattern 40mm offset and currently weigh 18kg with the tyre. I believe the rim weight is about 11kg.

Locally the only rim that I have across that should fit is the Lenso Light S-2.

Introducing the all new Lenso Light S-2. Weighing under 7kg. Perfect for small, turbo charged cars which like to get around the track FAST!

Model: Light S-2

Sizes Available: 17x7

Fitment Available: 4x100

Colour/Finish: White / Gold / Black

Anyone fitted this rim and would like to share there experience with them. Secondly, I'm open to suggestions for another substitute, bare in mind it has to be within a similar price range. I understand that going smaller will reduce unsprung weight, but id like to keep the same profile.

SE rims are 18 pounds / 8.2kg.

I think - correct me if im wrong - If you fit those there wouldn't be much different becuase stock is 17x7 et40. Perhaps 17x7.5 would be better to suit as this is what the 205/40r17s are designed to be mounted onto.

Black would be a nice 'color' for those rims.

10kg for each tyre they didnt feel that heavy, the rim felt heavier then the tyre when i picked them up at the tyre shop. Damn i wish i had access to a scale when i was at the tyre shop.

Yes, if i go for the lenso's they will be black.....

Calling lou, are they lenso's?

Do they have to be 17s?

If you want outright performance...
16s and 15s can go into the region of 5-6kgs (ok... those might be abit exxy)

Whats ur price range?

If you can go 15's, these are meant to be great.. They would be a very nice wheel for the track.

@ CT, thanks for the brand, they look bigger then 15s, gee lou's car looks really low, much lower then i remember it.

@ PUR157, As mentioned in the initial post, I prefer 17s despite not being the most optimal size as far as performance goes. I do not want to lower the car any further at this point in time as 15s would make the car look like 4X4 ed.

So i thought i good comprimise would be some light weight 17s that look reasonably exxy and could be used for the odd track day.

I got quoted $1250 AUD for the lenso's.

If you're looking for the lightest and most affordable wheel in 17\" why not try the Starcorp wheel?
7kg and $220 each from Mania, and if you send me a PM, I might be able to get an even better price for you.

Oops, sorry. I guess I missed that bit!

How about a set of Buddy Clubs? They should be the go in terms of pure functionality... they mightn't be forged... but they are quality items!

I like the forged Motegi wheels. The only Aussie dealer I can find is Spinners Penrith.
