Dunno what they guy is worried about
the MX-5 gearbox is one of the easiest to remove!
only takes about half an hour!
just remember hwich way the engine will fall once you remove the gearbox
usually you can put a bit of 1/2 inch timber behind the engine against the firewall to stop the engine from scratching the paint
Might be different with the rotor though could fall forward then you would need totilt it back
Done alot of gearboxs on all sorts of cars and some really stupid ones the mx though would have to be the best!

The upgraded Exedy clutch, with flywheel resurface and all seals, in my old NA, was $500 fitted -- and was done by a very reputable MX5 mechanic. At the time, I took it to mean that the clutch is fairly easy to replace.
Then last weekend I saw how much of a pain the job is
I've done the job on plenty of other cars, but I'm not going near a gearbox again in this lifetime.

they are better than a torsen.
The NA6 uses a 6" diff, the NA8 and up use a 7". The NA6 diff is useless when you throw power at it, regardless of what centre you put in.
The 1.8 housing is what you want. You could fill it with whichever type of LSD you want after that.

an hour if not on a hoist

there is only two bolts on the PPF
four for the tail shaft
two plugs
take the gear shifter off
and 9 i think bolts on the bell housing (don't quote me on that though)
drain the oil
then slide the box off!
if you have a good set of 1/2 inch extensions for your socket set it makes it ten times easier!

I think it goes:
Quick - Reliable - Cheap
Pick 2...
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
