Bilsteins, with lowered King's?? problem solved..

Hi guys,

I just wanted to know if anyone has a picture of their car running clubman bilsteins with lowered springs??

I just wanted to see the ride height, as the back of my car seems to sit very high with the king spring. The front you can tell is lower, but the rear looks wrong. I compared it to Mio's car the other day, he is running KYB's, with lovells. The front of his car is the same as mine, but the rear of my car sits about an inch and a half higher than his.. :?

Im thinking that maybe the wrong springs were put in the back..Is there any way i can lower the rear of the car more??

If i could get some pics, and info on what springs you are running with the bilsteins that would be great.

any help would be great.

Silly question, but you do have the right springs at each end of the car? I'm pretty sure that the front springs are actually taller than the rear ones?

yeah, I have kings front and rear. The guy before me had them put on the car, so I have no idea if they are around the right way. :?

Is there any way i can find out??

I just took some measurements. I jacked the car up to take the weight off the springs, and measured the springs. I also replace the wheels and measured from the centre of the wheel straight up to the arch.

The measurements were:

FRONT:

Spring measurement: 215mm
Centre of the wheel to arch: 310mm

REAR:

Spring measurement: 230mm
Centre of the wheel to arch: 345mm

This really dosent seem right to me.. :?

Are they NB shocks on the rear? They would sit higher on an NA I believe. Do they have adjustable spring perch height - ie three different grooves for the circlip that locates the spring?

Front springs are considerably longer than rear springs - so its easy to check they're round the right way, just stick your head under and have a look.

No they are just the standard clubman bilsteins, and they dont have adjustable spring perch height..

Heres a pic of the ride height..you can see that the rear sits quite high compared to the front..

Definitely the wrong springs on the back then - Kings lows would have dumped the rear. Front looks right though, so maybe they are NB rear springs by mistake, or something different entirely. Whatever the case you'll need another pair of rears to fix it... :frown:

If they are kings they will have part # stamped on them or a tag with part # on it, front should be KMFL-52 rear should be KMRL-53
they are the 30mm (inch and quater) lowering kings for na model
that pic tells me that rear is not lowered with a king (front is low though)

I actually just had a look on the king spring website, and downloaded their spring catalogue. Turns out the fool who installed them did it backwards... :evil:

KMRL-53 on the front, and KMFL-52 on the rear.. :?

Im taking them to get changed.. thanks for all the help guys.

Just saw your new post re the springs being at the wrong end. Give the suspension a couple of days to settle before measuring the ride height, especially if you have new bushes fitted. Also make sure they tighten the suspension nuts/bolts with the suspension compressed, to do otherwise can shorten the life of your bushes.
