re-trimmimg steering wheel ?

i have a nice momo wheel that is starting to get a bit worn out. i think it needs a freshen up. any idea what it might cost to get it re-trimmed ? currently it is balck with some red bits... was thinking of getting it re-done with black and , and replacing the red with green.... any idea of what this might cost ? i have a feeling it might be cheaper to buy a new steering wheel ?

I was quoted $360 to do an NB8B wheel in Sydney. I wanted it done half perforated leather and with red stitching. The changes didn't make any difference to the price. From memory Blackmans in Melbourne wanted $300 for the same thing plus $50 shipping to and from Sydney.

I ended up getting a lightly used SE wheel from Mania for $150. Thanks Simone.

The SE rim feels a little bit thinner than the Nardi in the NB8B. Does anyone know if the SE wheel is a Nardi wheel? It looks the same shape as the NB8B wheel but it's different because the rear plastic cover from the Nardi doesn't fit onto it. The horn mechanism is also slightly different and required some mods to work with my airbag.

It cost me $140 a couple of years back (including postage) from a mob in Adelaide called ATUC (Automotive Trimming and Upholstrey Consultants or something like this).

Not sure if they're still around, but the job was 1st class. Some local digging in Adelaide would find them, or they were featured in a writeup on Autospeed (http://www.autospeed.com).

Fatty, try Blackmans. They reside over in mornington and do amazing work. Most car dealers in Melbourne use them when putting leather interior into cars. (most MX-5's that have leather fitted in OZ have blackmans leather trimmed interiors)

are they usualy just a cover thats tight as buggery and glued on??

Autospeed did a write up of the recovering of a factory wheel (that's where I found out about it).

Sure - you might be able to do it but can your mum do hand stitched baseball stitching to leather and not have it bunch up?

Some of the best coin I spent on the car - you're always in touch with the steering wheel - if it feels like $hit you will know about it and hate it.

SAAS quoted me $125 about 3 years ago to retrim a wheel. Might be worth seeing what they charge now.

just went through the same process for my NA6 steering wheel. Got a quote to re-trim at $250. But instead I bought one online (momo tuner, replaced corse) for $299. he new one is 350mm not 370mm like the OEM wheel and is very nice.

I suggest modyourcar website, or even try mania...you never know they might just be able to help.

the problem is for the NB we have an air bag so cant go aftermarket
