What Stan said. I mean compatible with and matched to each other. e.g. user reports indicate that the Clubman Bilsteins and OEM springs are not very compatible/well matched hence the compromised ride quality. However, it seems if you use those shocks with the right Eibach springs it all changes for the better.

There was an excellent big blurb about 8 months ago in edition #6(?) of the club magazine which covered a lot of stuff on shocks and springs.

\"KYB AGX 4-way adjustables on the 00 miata with stock springs is the way to drive a miata in all situations. I frequent the mountains of NC and TN - especially Deals Gap (google it) and love this setup. ... The agx s make a HUGE difference in the miata - it s great, the car is stable at high speeds and corners like a dream. Nose lift and drop is no longer noticeable, I run the AGX s set to 3 up front and 2 in the rear when driving hard (mountian/country roads) and I run 1 up front and 2 in the rear for normal highway driving (believe me you don t want to drive 6 hrs in this car with 3-front/2-rear). I love the flexibility of the AGX, it s easy to change the settings and when paired with OE springs it still gives you more handling than you may need.\"
(this review from the Tirerack website)
they're also highly recommended by Flyin' Miata
thanks for the tip Boags, mine are on the way :D

:P No problems! Those settings are based on the NB version by the way, which only has 4 settings, not 8 like the NA version 8)

Unfortunately i don't have any oem springs :? Anyone with KYBs on an NA got OEM springs on?

Keep the info coming please guys!

I run AGXs on an NA with OEM springs. I'd agree with the Tirerack review but i don't have that much comparative experience with other NA setups.

I run Konis with the OEM springs on my '91 NA. Very happy with the combination.

found this to be the most relevant but how do the bilsteins fair over the stock shocks, is it worth even upgrading to this setup in the interim? or would a standard shock and aftermarket springs be better?

is $300 a good price for shocks that look like their in good condition but has unknown km's?

can these be rebuilt as well?

Bilstiens shoud be able to be rebuilt, keep in mind the adjustable kyb from the us are less than $500 deliveres, so you may want to think about holding onto that cash and putting it towards the purchase price of whatever you get.

Which bilstiens are they too? Std clubman ones? I don't know how they compare to others, surely someone else might know.

Tim

PS I am quite happy with my kybs, but I really wouldn't know any better :D

Pretty sure this is the guy most of us got them from, I remember the name jdmwerks.
EBAYS!

Mine ended up costing about AU$480 to my door, but that was about 6 months ago when the exchange rate wasn't as good.

any comment on the bilsteins tho, over stock?

i'll see if i can bargain the price down on the bilsteins, what would be a good price for these types of shocks with unknown km's?

I had the Clubman OEM Bilstein's for 18 months, and compared to the Tein SS I can say that they are over dampened and under sprung. At any given setting on the Tein's, they are more compliant yet have much less roll, and mines 25mm lower. Unfortunatly I can not compare them to the stock items though.

I'm still running the OEM Clubman Bilstein springs and shocks setup on my car....like Brad said, the feeling of underdamping and lack of shock travel drives me nuts sometimes. My car crashes over potholes and I can feel every single cats eye too everytime I lane change :? Not cool.

I ordered a set of KYB AGXs from JDMwerks last week...can't wait to get them!! The guy doesn't reply my emails though and despite me sending through the payment last week, I still haven't got a shipping confirmation or tracking order from Paypal...

What were your experiences guys?

I paid on a Friday and fitted them the following weekend...

He didn't answer emails in the meantime though... Agro waited for 3 weeks for hers, and she also got no response from the seller. He is reliable from our experiences but his communication is non-existant.
