Had a similar problem about 6 months ago. There was a periodic rubbery/plasticky sound when I depressed and/or released the clutch pedal. You can also feel there is something there that is about to give. After a while I found plastic/rubber bits on the footwell. So I thought...must be some sort of rubber stopper thing on the clutch that's deteriorated.
Got David to have a look last time and he fixed it. Problem is I wasn't there when he done it and I forgot to ask!
It started happening again on the way home today. After dinner I lied there in the footwell for 10mins pressing and depressing the clutch but it didn't happen so I couldn't isolate the problem
Got any ideas guys?
