Does anyone have any suggestions for some nice solid boost control? I just want to run 13psi. I won't be adjusting it myself, but I want it to be reliable.
I've seen the Jaycar ones - they look ilike a good solution, but one of the guys @ Mercury Motorsport reckons they're inconsistent. Any other experiences?

He'll say they are inconsistent because he does not sell them.

I ran a bottom of the range turbo smart boost controller on my S15 for about 12 months. I found it worked fine and the boost was pretty consistant. I think that set me back a whole 100$
Im looking into a more advanced option for the sp thou, because i want different levels of boost in 1st/2nd to 3rd/4th etc

Funny you say that, he then recommended a Turbosmart he sells.
Either manual or electronic will do fine.

I made my own from parts at my mates workshop = $0
I get 9 PSI rock solid, no creep, no overboost and no spike. If I want more I just turn the knob clockwise.

If you don't have a mate with a workshop, UA bought the exact same thing on eBay for just next to $0... They aren't very expensive cause they are dead simple and they make sense because they are mechanical.
I believe UA loves his too!

AT low boost hey wont drop off that much, I've set up an MX5 with one of the $20 ebay ones and it held rock solid 12 - 14 and 16 psi.
The only bit I didn't like was setting it up, gee it was hard to adjust, it seemed 12-14psi was bugger all adjustment/screwing, then 14 - 16 was a lot bigger change required....
Just be sure to only adjust a bit at a time to prevent overboost to HUGE numbers...
For $20 I can't fault them, at least as good as the $90 GFBs etc.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

SMC part number ARP3000 - Direct Operated Precision Regulator Modular Style or festo equivalent. A mate of mine used the festo equivalent on an SR20 with a GT3040 and it worked prefectly with a 40odd mm external gate. He tested it from gate pressure (of 7psi upto 18odd psi without a drama). They are rate from .005 to .3MPa (.8psi to 40-odd psi) with a setting sensitivity of .001MPa and a repeatability of .003MPa (.45psi). My mate swore by it. Otherwise another mate swears by the blitz stuff for boost controllers (can't remember the exact model) holds flat as and really helps pick up response as it's coming on.

I have a Blitz EBC and running under 10PSI it seems to work fine. Looking at the readout on the screen the boost is very consistent. It feels like there is more boost at lower revs and the transition onto boost is much smoother than it was using just the wastegate as the controller.
I tried the $40 manual controller that the Skyline guys/Autospeed raved about and found the boost to be inconsistant and came on with a big rush. Setting it up was a pain too. The thread pitch on the adjuster is way to coarse.

My MX6 has and electric Mazspeed unit which works fine. Normal boost is 7lb and 14 with it turned on. It is adjustable with a screwdriver to get it right. Was running 18lb for a while but thought it was a bit high, besides, the front tyres were starting to suffer.
Sadly MX5 less for a while.
