Informous High Idle

Postby qik_260z » Wed May 23, 2007 10:38 am

Hi guys i have had a look at a few other posts on this topic and also tried the suggested ECU reset thing but my car continues to idle at 1200rpm with the idel control screw all the way in so its really at about 1500rpm when the screw is in a normal position.

Any advice on what to try next would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Clint

Mines the opposite, Idles at 600 rpm and that screw makes no difference at all. I despise EFI

Check that the throttle plate is resting on it's stop and look for vacuum leaks around the intake. Your idle speed controller may be stuck open or if you have a NA6 the cold idle valve thingo on top of the inlet manifold may be stuck.

There's a few things to get you going.

Take the intake arm off
Spray cleaner around butterfly
Wipe with rag that has cleaner on it (actually open the butterfly to do this) Wipe with dry rag

Finished. :)

Do a search. I fixed this problem with a new ISC. Mine got stuck and needed replacing. I did a writeup of what needed fixing.

Search for weird high idle
