Michie PP2s on a SE

The following is a comparison of the OEM toyo's Proxes 205/40/17 vrs the Michie PP2s 205/40/17 on the SE. I have done roughly 1000km with the PP2's

My first impression is that these tyres are much firmer in ride then the toyo's. Even when running the same pressures that i had on the OEM toyos (30 F and 32psi R). Running pressures above 32 psi on the PP2's the SE felt too hard for sydney roads.

Cornering ability of the PP2's are exceptional, turning into corners the responce isnt as delayed as the toyos. These tyres are much sharper into a turn and predictable, where you turn is where the car ends up (within normal limits of course). They do not feel as squishy as the OEM toyos. The toyos exhibited some understeer these appear to give a little oversteer

Straight line grip in the dry the PP2's grip is superior then the OEM toyo's. With the toyos when it was dry in 2nd gear without dumping the clutch on hard acceleration the toyos would spin. Yet to happen the PP2s. In the wet on a semi damp road traction feels better and on a completly wet road when its raining profusely grip is moderately better.

As far as road noise is concerned they are quiet, perhaps a little more quiet then the OEM toyos. Rim protection seems equal to the OEM toyo's.

But on a whole, were the original Toyos an 'average/good/great' tyre?

I put pp2s on my se and had much the same results except I thought the ride was softer. However that may be because I went to 16\".

I found the toyos to be lacking. Thats the nicest thing I can think to say. :frown:

How are you finding the PP2s Blackster?

I'm leaning towards these for the street VS the Toyo T1rs.

If your beast came with Toyo Proxes I don't think they were the OEM tyres. Mine was delivered new with Toyo Trampio Vimodes apparently an SE specific tyre......this summation is based upon the fact that Toyo only listed one size for that range of tyre and it was what was on the car when I picked her up. 5 different tyre shops had never heard of it before but it was listed (at the time) on all their books. The tyre pattern that you linked looks exactly the same as the one's i had before. I could be mistaken about the name, my SE had 14.5k on the clock when i grabbed her and im certain the tyres have not been changed.

These PP2's are firmer in the ride compared to the toyos, they are stiffer in the sidewalls making conerning more sharp and predictable. Grip wise dry/wet are seem better.
