How wide can you go on 15x7s?

what's the widest tyre size you could get for 15x7 rims on an NB without rubbing and how does it feel driving on 205s/215s/or higher?

Running on stock 195s at the moment...

Do I remeber Irwin thinking 225 was just too wide? but maybe it was just a weak moment, but it fits. I can't recall the width of his wheels.

I have 205/50R15 dunlop D01's for track tyres on 15 x 7's. They fit well, I guess 215's would fit quite well too, I just decided the extra 10mm wasn't worth the extra $40ish (from memory) per corner. Oh , these are on an NA6 with koni's kings combo lowered about an inch and a bit, no problems rubbing.

Next time I would probably go for 215's. only for the reason to try something different. Would be interested to see if there was any additional grip.

how wide can you go, or how wide should you go? Different answers...

Personally I wouldn't go beyond a 205 on a 7\" rim.

i went 225 on a 7

and yes it is a tad wide.. and dose scrape.

stick to 215 (if you can find any... which you prolly wont

)

so basically its 205/50R15

think of it this way

standard 6 inch wheel runs a 195cm wide tyre... 7inch wide wheel is 25mm wider so you should be able to run around 25mm more rubber 215 is 20mm so sounds perfecto.. but as said finding a 215/45/R15 tyre could be interesting

Thinking of getting a set of 15x7 charcoal Superlites the next time I get new tyres, haven't checked price but they're probably easiest minilites to get in Oz new than Konig Rewinds, or Chapparrals and can't be bothered paying import duty on mail order, Watanabe? Forget it), and thought I should get wider tyres to suit. 205 it is

Are there any real benefits to getting a bigger wheel eg 16\" and lower profile tyres other than aesthetics? I'm under the impression whatever tyrewall flex it reduces is probably overcome by having a higher unsprung weight of a bigger wheel.... and wheels/tyres are more expensive too.
