Power Antenna and Window Demister

Postby meanmx » Wed May 16, 2007 10:42 pm

Hi guys. I've got the bits to install a power antenna and window demister but was hoping to get a little help from you guys. I have a 90 Australian delivered NA6 so can someone please tell me if there is any wiring in the car for the rear window demister or if I have to run it myself. I have the switch, the fusebox and the relay. Any tips would help with this or a link to somewhere else. Also I'm going to do the antenna at the same time and was wondering if anyone knew the colour codes for the antenna. I'm guessing one is permanent power, one is ground, one is the wire from the stereo, and is the other one a switched power supply? As I said any help will be appreciated.

Depending on what radio you have, most aftermarket ones have \"AUX\" or \"ANT\" wire coming out of the radio. Wire it into that and you'll be fine. It will go up for radio and drop for CD\\Turned off.

If you don't have either of these from the radio, just hook up the wire to a switch that you can flick at your leisure. Make sure the switch has a accessories power to it, that way, it will go down when you turn the car off regardless of whether or not you flick the switch. :)

I think there was a misunderstanding. I know how to wire it up but I just need to know if there is any wiring at all in an NA6 for the rear window demister, ie when I install the switch do I plug it in or wire it up. Same as the antenna, I can wire it up but if somone can help me with the colour codes for the 4 wires coming out of the power antenna it would be a big help. I've looked up my wiring diagrams and they don't have it in there. I appreciate the info guys but it's not quite what I am looking for. Ajay I got the switch, relay, and fuse block from mx5parts.co.uk and I got the antenna from ebay.

I have just had a look at my car and I can see wiring connectors behind the blank switch panels in the dash. It looks like a perfect match for my rear window demister switch. Do these go anywhere? Can I plug it in and use them? And if so where is the other end located? Somebody would have had to have done this before and any help would be appreciated.

the 4 wires in the antenna are easy
one for the antenna input for your headunit
the other for the remote turn on / antenna up wire from your headunit (basically just gives 12V + when the radio is turned on)
then the standard -ve (ground wire)
and + ve (goes to + terminal of battery, don't forget to fuse it)
