What tyres were you on? I presumed you changed them from the T1Rs. :)

T1-Rs....piff  left them at home in the garage. If I'd used them I'd only run 1:16s

No I had old and well worn DOT tyres that were to be thrown on the scrap heap. Improved my PB by 1.6 seconds :D

This is the first time I have used DOT tyres and as they say, once you have tried them you will never go back.

Wow!

It is the best way i can describe yesterday.

First of all let me thank the organisers and all the behind the scenes people that make days like this happen!

My start to the day was less than glorious spinning twice during the instruction laps  and turning a very dissappointing 1.37 in my first solo run...

But I did manage a PB by the end of the day at 1.23.69  8)

I couldn't get to sleep last night as i was still too excited.

Thanks again!

I had a great time yesterday!

I picked up my NA8 (stock, except for Konis and a strut brace) a few weekends ago, slapped on some old and worn Toyo R881's I had, and managed a 1:16.4 PB.

Gotta be happy with that!

A big thanks to those that helped put the day together yesterday.

Well that's the first track day I've not improved my PB which is surprising given the conditions. Was fairly happy all round running several 16's and having a fairly consistent consistency! :D As usual a big thanks to the organisers.

That Mania car was berserk, I don't think I've ever seen anything accelerate that fast in the flesh, what the hell is under the bonnet? And well done to CB, excellent times indeed.

Great day and fantastic turnout for a Monday. Charlie Brown turned out some fantastic times, as did the Mania guys. I’m still learning to drive hand grenade and hope to improve my times at the next supersprint on the 20th of May.

Thanks to all the organisers for the great day.

holy cow CB! you almost cracked the class record by rod! a 1.6 sec difference in times really says alot about your old tyres :? but your certainly looking to be the one to catch now

Matt..... we are so screwed... 1.13s! what the hell we going to do to catch up now  :P
hope the extinguisher fits well.. should of stuck it in on monday and seen if it made and noises :P should be fine though 8)

so were dan and dav drivin on monday or just dav? that car is really really quick and nicely setup... but credit where credit is due, those two fellas are great drivers. i notice they finally gave in and put the black rims on :P looks hot as especially with those tyres 8) think i heard someone say the mania car has pulled a 1.03.XX before? this true?? thats even more crazy

Were they street tyres or DOT approved shagged semi's? They look pretty chunky and tuff. 8) What sort of tyres CB? I might keep my eye open for a used set if they are a softer tyre. :)

Not street tyres but well used and abused DOT semi's, as I said in an earlier post.

Kumho V700 up front (from the Lotus Series a year ago) and Dunlop D01Js (from the Commodore Cup) on the rear.
Next time out I hope to have shagged D01s all round as the Kumho’s were at the maximum limit for the rim size.

I’m wrapped with the time considering that there’s only 91kW ATW and If I get the tyre pressures right maybe there’s a chance to improve on that time. I can only hope.

Just goes to show you Mazda designed a great car for the average 'Joe Blow' to have some fun in.

Were you using 16" rims?

Very impressive times - clearly you're not an average Joe Blow 8)

Hi Casey,

Yep, 16" rims of a mid 90's RX-7 (Series 5/6?). With the 50 series tyres the diametre worked out the same as the standard 17" with a 45 series tyre.
Offset was only 3mm different from the standard 55mm offset.

Series 6 - very light for their size.

I've got the V700 as my road tyres and am very happy with them - they don't seem affected by heat cycles like some other DOT tyres, so they should be okay when I finally am able to get to the track again 8)

I wouldn't exactly call them "shagged" and ready for the tip for a semi slick. :?

Evidently CB has far too much moolah if he thinks those tyres need to be thrown on the scrap heap. You should have seen my \"more slick than semi-slick\" tyres that weekend.

Thankfully, I shall be rolling on new R888s at this weekends Supersprint.

Hey Bev, I think I have bested your best time! :P
