I'm in the same boat at the moment. Has anyone tried any of these at a track day? Are they ok, or am I still better off with some R-spec tyres (and keep some PP2s for street use - if the financial controller allows it )?
Here’s my times around Wakefield with your selection bar the Yokohamas.
R-Spec 1:13.48
Michelin Precedas P1 1:15.08
Toyo T1-Rs 1:17.14
There is no comparison to the R-Spec tyres for track use, as I discovered last Monday. For the financial controller’s peace of mind, may I suggest that you look at getting second hand R-Spec tyres and an old set of rims for track day. It’s well worth the effort for times and the saving of your good road tyres. It ended up costing me $500 for rims and tyres for a 1.6 second reduction in lap times.
The lap time for the Toyos was on a hot day so read into that what you like but I should say that I had my bottom spanked by another NC running Michelins at the same meeting. That’s what prompted me to get the R-Spec tyres as I hated the fact that……...well I’ve discussed my feelings on T1-Rs elsewhere.
