as the topic states
Car is a NB8A manual with 24,000km on the clock, run on premium fuel.
My dad thinks it's idling a bit rough but I can't really feel it, only think I notice is when stopping while the engine is cold, ie pulling up at a set of trafflic lights there is a slight blip in the revs as the car stops but it returns to normal in less than a few seconds.
When I say the car is stock I mean it, still using stock plugs and leads, no intake or exhaust mods at all. It does get to about 6000rpm each time it's dríven though but I wouldn't think this would be a problem (always dríven for about 5 mins before the revs get this high so it's warmed up)
Also how much will it cost to get it tuned, and any places worth mentioning around north sydney that will do a good job, (otherwise I'll just take it to mania)
thanks in advance
Is it worth getting a stock car tuned??

I'm not sure what you mean by tune... You can't \"tune\" the stock computer, it has set values and perameters for fueling depending on the sensor inputs.
You could raise or lower your idle, which obviously would affect how your car idles, but if the car currently idles at the right rpm most of the time, then changing it isn't going to fix anything.
I'd say (at least) 7 year old spark plugs and leads would probably not be at their most efficient anymore. How old is the engine oil in it (not that that would cause an idle dip, just making sure the car is serviced regularly, regardless of km's).
A general check up and spark plug and lead change might be in order, but a \"tune\" is not.

thanks, I've heard general talk of getting stock cars tuned especially when I was looking at other 5's before getting mine, normally when something like \"Runs alright just needs to be tuned properly\"
Engine oil is all good only changed about 3-4 weeks ago along with most of the other fluids

Laugh at anyone who says that again.

Great stuff, I'd just change plugs and maybe leads, then check idle is at the right rpm and get back to us if you still have issues.

Laugh at anyone who says that again. They don't know what they are talking about. You hear that mostly with cars that have carbies, not EFI.
Boags is pretty right there.
A "tune-up" used to mean:
check/ test/ replace/ adjust ignition components as required (spark plugs, ignition leads, ignition points, distributor cap, rotor button etc.); as well as set timing (this would vary along with point gap, so always worth a look...). Carby would get a quick once-over to set idle and idle mixture, lubricate lnkages and assess if it needed further attention (clean/ overhaul kit).
Modern ignitions/ ECUs and EFI have eliminated most of the variables mentioned above, and hence a lot of the ability of a mechanic to "tune" a car. Replacing plugs and leads covers a lot of the car's needs, along with the (very) occasional injector clean.
These days the term is more likely to infer an adjustable ECU and associated time spent on a dyno... or just one of us "old-timers" talking from memory!
