BNE - Time Attack - 17.05.07 - Who's going??

Postby ASE05 » Sat May 12, 2007 8:00 pm

As the title suggests?

I've had the alignment done by Fulcrum to \"track spec\" and changed the brake fluid only to discover that the RT615's weren't holding up as well as I thought they were.....the wear indicator is less than 1mm away :|

What do yall in the know think of these settings for an SE with stocko suspension?

Looks pretty aggressive. Does it feel any different? I noticed a difference in feel (particularly faster turn in) after getting the NA changed to more like a track setting.

I'm going to Time Attack but only to do morning volunteer. I want to get more km up on BlooMax before taking him on the track.

You've got way more toe in on the front back than I do, I run 0deg on the front and 1deg total on the rear. My camber is less but I'm planning to increase it front and rear to -2.0deg next time.

Yeah, go with far less toe on the rear next time, especially given how stiff the SE is (relative to any other MX5). My camber is set at about -2.7. At one point they had it at -3.5 :?

I actually go slightly the other way, a bit less toe on the front (0 - 0.5mm toe in each side) and between 1 - 2 toe in at the rear. If you have lots of grunt, you can get away with even more toe in at the rear, gives you half a chance to get onto the power earlier out of the corners. Camber seems fine for a road car. With that sort of camber, I would have almost expected a bit more caster. But each car is different, that could be as much as they could screw out of yours. Some tyres need more camber than others, take a good look at how yours are wearing too.

I haven't had a chance to drive in anger yet on the new settings so I guess I'll find out on Thursday

I had no idea what settings to get so I left them to their own devices. I figured that I'm struggling to get 8 - 12000km outta the tyres anyhow so what the heck, may as well get it to handle while it's chewing 'em out :P

I did find in the brief drive I had today after cleaning the engine bay that it seemed to be more stable through corners/roundabouts than before and a lot less skittish if that makes sense. It was pretty badly outta whack for a while though so I guess that could be expected.

JBT/Boags, you're both weak!!

Anyone else going? I kinda hope the rain stays at bay for the day though.......

How many Kms did you get out of the RT615's?
