Yokohama Advan Neova AD05.AD06

Postby Andy Wana » Mon Apr 23, 2007 11:55 am

Hello fellow forumites,

I got myself a new set of wheels recently and they come with the Yokohama Advan Neova AD05 (left side of car) and AD06 (right side of car) on two of the set of 4 wheels
The Advans still have decent tread on them whilst the other two Dunlop F1s are shagged
I am looking at replacing the Dunlops with the Advan Neova AD05/06 combo again for consistency
Then I read a bit about the Advan AD05/06 and they aren't supposed to be road legal (or even legal) in Australia
Are they specifically built for the tracks only and not for road use?
I sure don't want to end up on the walls if they won't stick to the roads on a wet day (i.e semi slicks, soft compound)
Then again, I don't want to give them up either cos they are supposed to be very good tyres

Any thoughts or opinions?

P.S. The Advan Neova AD05.06 look awesome by the way.
Pretty aggressive tread design. I like.

Bwob reckons these are the best tyres for the MX-5.

Apparently they're not E-tagged or something which makes them not street legal here.

Advan hi-po tyres should be good for both dry and wet.

i run AD07 and they're awesome in the wet.

never tried the earlier ones tho.

i got the same set on my second hand wheels. they seemed to stick well wonce warmed up but cold and wet and they were terrible. mine are almost warn out and sitting under the house in need of some track rims.

my bet would be stick them on a set of rims for track use.

I don't really have any idea how much they cost when new
They came with my Panasport wheels when I bought them and I look them up on the internet
They are supposed to be illegal in Australia too, as Philip Lee had pointed out
My guess is that they will be priced along the same lines as the legal Yokkie AD07s
