Mazda likely just went with a rear pad which a high metal content percentage. Any automotive parts place will stock oem brake pads, I believe ferodo switched to an organic compound that would likely not suffer from this problem as well. Maybe someone on here lives near you and can suggest a knowledgable brake centre. They should be able to tell you what compound each pad uses. I wouldn't expect much from the supercheap etc clerks.

Repco, Autobarn, etc for Bendix, but I think you're out of luck. Looks like Bendix only make Ultimates for 1989-2001 models.

You'll get it no matter what pads you use - none of them will stop disc rust.

I always thought this was normal, after i wash my car a put it into the garage, the next time i reverse it out it always makes that clunk noise.

I just though it was the surface rust on the disks binding to the rear brake pads (handbrake on), and when the wheels start spinning it loosens off and makes a clunk noise. I have Bendix ultimates, and slotted and x-drilled rotors but still happens.. I wouldnt worry about it.

You may want to check that the pins of the calipers are nicely greased and rust free so the calipers can easily slide away from the discs when there is no pressure against them. The pins on one side of the rear of mine had a fair build-up of grime/rust on them which affected pad to caliper contact as it was pivoting the caliper.
