Removing Dash Centre

Postby Nickb » Wed May 09, 2007 12:20 pm

G'Day,

Any tips for removing the centre past of the dash, around the stereo/fans controls. The bottom is ok, but can't see how to get the top undone...

Thanks

Nick

You need to remove the centre air vents. There are 2 screws hidden behind them.

Yes, but they can be tough to remove. I tend to do it by bending a thick piece of electrical wire in to a U shape and then pushing it through the center of the vent. I then pull the wire back towards me so that both ends of the wire are sticking out of the vent. I then give the wire a short sharp jerk to remove the vent. I have also seen people use a small flat screwdriver to lever out the vent, but I scratched the centre dash doing it that way.

Actually it might be better to use something like the wide plastic packing bands (the blue stuff that large boxes are sealed with) as you want a large surface area in contact with the vent so that you don't damage it (don't as how I know about that).

Excellent, thanks, was worried about breaking stuff, thought there must be some more screws at the top somewhere.
