Interior is damp from a nights cold?

Hey Guys,
Has anyone been getting any condensation inside of their car which drips off from the soft top if they've parked their car outside in cold (particularly during autumn and winter)?
I open the door to my car to find that there's droplets of water on the inside of the soft top :frown:

Is there a way to prevent this? I've tried a car cover but it's one of them el-cheapo ones, not 100% waterproof. Even if it is waterproof, the cold air still flows between the cover and the car.. Any advice/help muchly appreciated!

sounds like you have moisture in the car which is then causing the droplets to form in the cold weather. Are the rubber weather seals on the around the side windows ok, is there a leak in the softtop, such as around the rain rain, or blocked drains just behind each seat near the seat belt towers?

the soft top is as good as gold. whenever i drive it in the rain, no leaks whatsoever.. all seals are fine - I'll have to take a closer look again because behind the passenger seat, its a bit damp. don't know how that happened; also around the passenger floor mats too.. :oops:

I've got something similar. I opened my boot lid yesterday morning to find condensation on the inside of the boot lid. None inside the car though as far as I can tell...

nah it's in the footwell on the passenger side. or at least it is in the early na6's. some of them have the ecu behind the seat tho, yeah. what car do you have?

If it's wet behind the seat it could be caused by blocked rain rail drains.

It's an Oct 2000 NB8B..

How would I clear the rain rail drails? Rip them off and put them back in? :roll:

Have a look under the car in front of the rear wheel well. You should see/feel a plastic/rubber hose about 15mm in diameter. That is the rain rail drain exit. One each side.

You will find the entry point is just behind each seat near where the soft top meets the door jamb. Look/feel for a plastic tray about 50mm square with a 15mm diameter hole in it.

Blow compressed air down the drain tube or very carefully clear the drain using some wire or a bit of plastic tube. When you've got it clear, run the hose down it.

Check the fuel cap recess drain hole while you're at it.

if it's only in the passenger footwell then take a look under the dash, there is a pipe thingy there which could be from the aircon/fan that might have come loose
