Nah, no need. The bass level is perfect for me at the moment, so I don't have a need to do anything drastic to get bass into the cabin. I was actually surprised at how good it sounds considering it's blocked off by so much stuff, but I reckon it's fine.

The mid range however is a different story. The added bonus is if I move my 6x9's into the cabin somehow, it'll free up some space in the boot meaning I can at least do some small shopping runs and actually have a passenger as well if need be :P

You won't want 12\" and 6x9 at the same time. They will interfere and sound yuck.

When I had my 6x9's and my 12" sub in my old laser, they sounded great, because everything was facing into the cabin and I was getting the sound come through. The problem with the MX is that there's a lot more stuff in the way of getting sound coming through.

As for sounding bad, I don't see why people say this. If you run your deck to low pass frequencies to the sub and high pass to the remaining speakers, it means the sub picks up the low end bass, and the 6x9's carry the low stuff the sub can't handle plus the remaining stuff (aka mid end). No interference whatsoever if you ask me.

that sounds fair enough but i'd put money that an 8\" or something around that size would be best to fill in that range rather than a 6x9

Perhaps... I guess it depends on how you like your mid range. I reckon the 8\" would be too bassey for mid range, but not bassey enough for low range. I listen to a lot of electronica, so I like my bass and my high's quite clear, which they already are. It doesn't need much mid end stuff, but it definitely doesn't need more bass or more treble, hence my desire for 6x9's to fill in the mids.

fair enough. currently i have 6.5\" splits, and they do well for mid to highs.

i think 8\" would fill the bass in quite well, even a bit of subbass, and with 10\" for house/electronica would be tops.

but yes, 6\" or 6.5\" in doors should sort your midrange

I've got the stock Bose speakers as my fronts at the moment. I think they'd go well amped (they were amped from the factory, but I can't seem to get the factory amps firing properly... Long story which I won't elaborate on here) and that would definitely help fill in the mid. I'd have to turn the highs down though, because those speakers seem to do the \"loud\" thing where they're strong in the highs and lows. Lows is obviously useless due to the HPF on them, but the highs sounds alright.

Wow... this is getting really off topic :P
