NB speaker install, where would you put 4\" speakers?

hey guys as the tittle says, im doing my stereo install in the NB & need your opinion on where to put 4\" speakers....
I have 8\" woofers in the doors as well as the tweeters in the doors but am not sure where to put 4\" mids...
before you all say i dont need them, its part of an mbq set & makes the most amaizing sound when all are working together with the specially designed cross overs.. so where would you put them?

Ideally in the doors, however practically, in the headrests... although the sound from 4\" might become annoying there.

You might want to build a custom pod in the doors to house 8\" and 4\"

OR - put the 8\" behind you.

for the 4\" the sound would be directional since they would be handling mid-high range so I would want place them infront of the seats so maybe some custom pods for the car interior footwells or just under the front of the seats

hey guys, i mad a custom pod up today that holds both the 4\" speakers & will be putting it in the net of the wind breaker, i'll let you know how it sounds when its all hooked up

I use to have a custom \"parcel shelf\" with two 8\" 3 ways in there.

They did a good job.

I'm sure I've asked this before, but did that job involve cutting into the metal Okibi? Or did you build a bit of wood or something to fit over the rear parecel tray to house the speakers?

Both,

Cut metal (to fit the speaker magnets) and raised the height of the parcel shelf near the seats a few cm.

It's not structural metal though.

Was wondering about that. I thought it was quite structural? It looked it, but I didn't really look in too much detail.

Where exactly is the structural metal if that's not it? And if that isn't the structural metal, what is it? Essentially a fuel tank cover?

The metal he cut into is part of an aluminium sheet - normally it covers where you see in this pic - it gives the rear some structure for the carpet. It's been removed in the following photo:

Ahh, so that's how that bit of metal sits on the back shelf. Didn't realise there were two side channels that it sits on. In that case, it's not very structural at all.

Hmmm... getting tempted to rip mine out and stick my 6x9's in there now :twisted:

I wanted more punch.

I saw the new Pioneer Subwoofers on the weekend, they look perfect for someone who doesn't need the seat all the way back.

Product nunbers are:
TS-SW1041D (8.3cm deep) RRP $269.00
TS-SW1241D (8.3cm deep) RRP $299.00

You *might* be able to squeeze one into a custom shelf and still let the roof sit properly, trick is only raising the height of the shelf near the seats and not towards the back of the car.

I've got a 12\" Rockford Fosgate in the boot, so I have plenty of punch right now

(Minor pun there too, since it's actually a \"punch\" model RF

)
Right now I want to get my 6x9's (which are currently sitting in the boot) firing into the cabin to get more mid in there. I really can't hear them all that well at the moment.

Might think about how to do an even crazier custom install for the sub, but that can wait. 6x9's first.
