That's one of Wayne's license plate holders. :)

Good work, Mike - welcome to the club!

I just saw Boags' post and I too got one of theose little blue placards tonight- the engineer came to us out at Boags' place and for a very reasonable fee certified both our cars for the turbo installation and for style/roll over bars - allowing for much pre-flexibility and certainty should the Brown Davis option ever eventuate.

He also did my harnesses, which have been in the car since before I bought it, and will cover any future reinstallation of same.

So I can now also show off the only essentially blue piece of hardware in my engine bay (it looks just like Boags' except the background panel is red). Incidentally - he wasmost impressed by the custom ss fabrication work.

Boags and I did some calcs tonight, and worked out that I've achieved somewhere in the order of $5k-$10K worth of turbo conversion for significantly fewer dollars that that by good luck, good work, and good help.

So thanks to (in loose order of appearance):

Astroboysoup (for buying the bits then selling them in disillusionment)
Jen (SWMBO - for saying yes to man bling)
Ryan/LowMiata (for the fabrication work)
The forumites who bought my superfluous bits
Boags (for his assistance where provided)

If you're ever gonna do it - move to QLD first. Then look at www.miataturbo.net - while there's 'interesting' opinions (understatement Boags??) there's also loads of help.

MBC and extra boost to come :D and then it's fun fun fun at dodgy day.

That makes me all warm and fuzzy, thanks Mikey! (Not the bit about interesting opinions on mt.net, the other bit  )

It has been a pleasure getting through the ordeal with you, anyone would think we'd had twins! *I'm the dad btw!*

1st dyno trip today to check what sort of tune I've managed to create.

1st run - 113 KW @ about 9 PSI (peak 11) but fuel curve lean (15:1) to begin with and rich (11.1:1) at end.

2nd run (after some adjustments) - 103.7KW @ 7PSI (peak 9) with fuel ratios better at start (13.9:1), but still rich (10.2:1) in the upper part of the map.

I was let down a bit by a laptop that kept blue screening - the joys of running the DKU5 cable to the Emanage (via USB) for lack of a serial pulg in my laptop. 4 bluescreens ate up about 15 mins or more of dyno time out of 1 hour. So another session will probably be required.

I'll post up my maps later. A way to go, but a good start thus far.

Do you use a DKU5 cable? Is that a Nokia phone cable?

Yes and yes - my laptop is so new that DELL have decided they don't need serial ports anymore

Laptops haven't had serial ports for ages, hence the libretto... It's not just Dell.

Nice numbers though for a first tune. POST THE MAP! 8)
