Well, I can now say that the TURBO CONVERSION is 100% complete.

Image

That is my little ticket out of sticky situations with the boys in blue, should they ever decide to pick on me.

So, insurance company will get a ring in the morning, and Robert's your father's brother.

Still on the list of things to do, not directly turbo related:

LSD - A must, I'm sick of smoking the inside wheel.
Clutch and Flywheel - Dodgy day next week.
Oil cooler - I have to get that from Shecky, but it is organised.

My thoughts from the whole ordeal...? I have to say I wouldn't do it again. I'm glad I did it this time, for sure, but I wouldn't attempt something so drastic on such a tight budget again. It would NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE if I had not been able to use and abuse the skills of a few tradey friends of mine for little more than beer and pizza while we worked, and without forumites like NMX516, zoomzoom and Sabretooth helping out and offering wisdom, also for beer and pizza.

What would I do next time? Wait for the right car (like the one Sean is selling at the moment) to come up for sale and buy it. Rob E's new car is a good example of this. If your budget is a bit higher then there are considerably fewer hassles with DIY, but you lose more when it comes time to say goodbye to the car down the track...

Once again, a massive thanks to everyone for all the help and support, it is certainly good fun to drive now, I'd be more than happy to take anyone who is willing to put up with me for a drive... And yes, I'll fill up beforehand... 8)

That permagrin's now more ingrained! Can't wait to see it at the dodgy day.. you know, the one that's next weekend. :p

Out of interest, what did you get tested for, and what was the relevant code number?

I thought to be legal the tag had to be permanently affixed with pop rivets?

Sean, it can't rust if there's no hole.

The engineer was asked the same question and advised that it was fine to be mounted by means other than pop rivets.

Funny how riveting is considered secure, yet a humble drill will effortlessly remove one.

The sadest thing is I never got back on the track with the turbo.

Car sold 2 weeks ago, so I'll never find out.
