Your response will greatly define the relationship that you have with this company.
You may ask them for the old parts (like the battery). Technically it is yours not theirs. If they cannot produce it, you may choose to refuse to pay for the new one (particularly as you had just fitted one and can prove it from receipts and should have it fixed under warranty).
Irrespective, if the work they have done was NOT on the original quotation they prepared, you are not bound to pay for it, but you should give them the opportunity to return the car to the original condition. This should happen immediately, at their cost, and without damage to your vehicle. Not over the next week whilst they hold your car hostage or by literally ripping stuff of the car.
For my 2c worth, they have done some work that may or may not have been necessary, but they should have sought your approval FIRST. Ideally this request is accompanied by a firm quote, from them, to you.
However if you gave them instructions along the lines of 'make it roadworthy', they have a fairly strong case.
LESSON: Always be very specific when dealing with tradesmen, plumbers, mechanics, whatever.
