3rd gear sticks when accelerating and going up hill

Hi,

I was going up a bridge the other day and accelerating through the gears i got to 3rd gear and then went to change to 4th but couldn't (easily) it was like it was stuck. After slowing down it was easier to change.

This happened again today coming home. Any ideas?

Nobody knows what could be causing this?

Possibilities are:

1. Dodgy hydraulics (slave or master cylinder or not enough fluid)
2. Pressure plate going bad
3. Stuffed selectors
4. Jammed shift mechanism
5. Stuffed transmission (shafts moving around due worn out bearings - it should be making bad noises too)

It is making some noises and when I had it inspected the NRMA dude said that it could need replacing soon. Maybe soon is now. Just funny its only when I accelerate hard uphill.

The forces within the transmission change relationship during acceleration/deceleration. e.g. a rapid throttle off from a fairly hard acceleration will induce a transmission to jump out of gear if it is badly worn. So other things like you're experiencing can happen too.

I had very similar problems (2nd gear though) and thanks to JBT's advice and others, had it fixed before. My gearshift is now buttery smoooth baby

Replaced clutch master and slave cylinders.
Taken up the free play in the clutch pedal.
Motul 300 gearbox oil put in.

That was my fix
