Umm, at least you didn't miss the Mt Nebo / Mt Glorious turn off & end up going back to the Gold Coast via Caboolture   (almost managed to blame it on inexperienced navigator)

Was a great day tho - even with the rain on the long long way home!

Finally home at 5.15 - did detour via Beachmere looking at real estate for half hour or so though but yeah it did take forever to get home.

Yeah...great day. Thanks Mark & JBT for organising it.

One small recommendation though for when we repeat the outing...is for a short break about half way in that long stretch (such as a pie-shop), mainly for the passengers sake, ...as well as another opportunity to slag off at AJ for using cruise-control!!!

Three of us waited back a few minutes when everyone suddenly ski-dattled at Somerset Dam, MXV-555 (a.k.a. ...the 'funny-coloured-SP') and the red Mazda 6 MPS took the road back via Fernvale then the Ipswich/Logan Motorway and I assume the M1 (but...unable to confirm if the other two were still following after 2-sets of tolls and only me with the E-tag - tee hee  ).

Saw some interesting sights on the way back, though:

    (1) the near drowning of the two occupants in the MG that must have set off earlier that day without the rag-top. They must have been saturated in the deluge on their way down the mountain! :P I can only imagine how much water they collected...maybe they can take it home and use it later the wash the car down? ...I wish I'd had the camera ready.

    (2) the MX5 racing cars on trailers heading back from somewhere ...the Lacey family ...I think. Passed 3 of them including a self-powered white NA with 2 orange stripes (...I think, the stripes were orange - it WAS still raining). ...I wish I'd had the camera ready.

    (3) one of the WRX club convoys heading back south. About 18 cars in two rows happily snapping away taking lots of pix like we do. ...I wish I'd had the camera ready.

Cheers!

AJ wrote:a) i despise being told what to do by "authorities"
...try telling them that. But I do notice that, like most people, you also drive on the left-hand side of the road too. Just like the "authorities" tell us to do.

AJ wrote:b) the gimps get wider parking spots, perfect for wide doors
...and wide people...which explains why YOU parked there, I suppose.

AJ wrote:c) i'll park where i want, i'm a truck driver remember
...aw, AJ...I would NEVER go so far as to call a NC a truck, but I guess that's your perogative.

AJ wrote:oh & doing 97.5 kmh in a 100 zone makes my ankle ache
I'm surprised it doesn't make your wrist ache...what with all that twiddling about

AJ wrote: ...........who wouldn't use cruise???
Nicole Kidman, for one.

AJ wrote: ...........oh, that's right, SP's don't have cruise control do they??? :P
No they don't, because SP drivers prefer to stay awake when driving.

Some more pix of the Dam Dam Dam Dam Dam run are posted on the QLD Club site...(it's much easier to upload pix directly into the post than having to upload first to a 3rd party like ImageShack).

Here's the link for those desperate for a fix:
