Oil pressure question??

Postby suzi » Fri Mar 23, 2007 8:36 am

Hi guys,
Possibly a dumb girl question but...

Last night I borrowed a friends NA & on the drive home noticed the oil pressure needle sits on about \"4\" when driving then drops back almost instantly to \"2\" when idling or going slowly.

The pressure guage in my NB sits in the one spot whether idling or driving & I think my other cars were like this too - is there possibly a problem with the NA or is this normal?

Thanks guys

This is the norm for all NA's :)
The NB was changed to a fixed position Gauge which is No use at all

blame the seppos suzi, they were having caniption fits when their oil pressure actually dared to change on them with different engine rpm.........they felt much better when it didn't move at all, it meant there was nothing wrong & they could drive it till it siezed on them

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

NA from 1995 onwards also has the "idiot light" gauge.

Thanks guys - glad to know there is nothing wrong with the NA! My friend is delightfully vague at the best of times & wouldn't have had a clue that this was even happening -so now I don't even have to mention it!!

Thanks guys.
