Shecks drift damage

Postby Sheck » Thu Mar 22, 2007 3:48 pm

Hey guys, if you havent read i mentioned in another thread that i hit a wall last sat at the drifts.
The reason this happened was due to 50% sh*t driving and 50% car setup totally wrong. Put on some Pirelli 6000 tyres on the back and had set at 32psi, they felt ok so i thought i didnt have to go soft on my first run.

Comming into turn 3 (national track) at QR 3rd gear (6 speed box plus 4.3 rear end) i scando flick the car as usual into the corner but instead of the car flicking back into the direction of the corner it just understeered right into the wall, i managed to bring the car around a little so most of the impact was on the drivers side front/corner section instead of full frontal.

Car is ok, all engine related parts came off scott free so i was lucky. But the front dirvers parker light setup was smashed, tow hook pushed back which also bent a small section of the chassis rail and some other metal. Most of the pannels dont line up properly anymore
Here are some pics:

Ouch, that sucks! Hopefully it isn't an expensive fix! :?

When in the passenger seat a couple of weeks back my bum slammed shut a couple of times, cause I thought that was going to happen. It's a pity you couldn't pull out of this one.

I wish you a speedy recovery!

Yea cheers mate, i may just leave it as is (i'm looking for a parker light assembly atm) if the damage doesnt affect the alignment, but i'll prolly get around to fixing it somewhere down the line - after i get the rest of the car sorted. Need a new turbo and to get my comp tuned, someone buy my wheels!!!!

Love the stitching.

The minimum your up for is a new
front bumper
bonnet
& Light cover.
front guard
indicator

Looks like you might have to employ a winch, large tree & a shed to pull out the tow hook

a little bit more than cosmetic, but the chassis i'll prolly leave if its not affecting anything and just try to get everything else to line up better.
I'll paint over the scratch marks (VIP pet foods add on the wall) and the zip ties just to get it looking complete again.

From day one i figured i'd get nothing in return (money wise) from this car and now i have every reason to keep it at least as a track car! Good news for me!!

I agree with the comments you should keep it like that - looks really kinky with the stitching...........plus you'll only be upset if it happened again...

Battle scars :)

At least it beats getting backed into by a Camry at Woollies...!

But on a more serious note... Glad to see (hear) no one was hurt!

It came from japan so i'm 90% sure its a HKS kansai front bar, i doubt an imported US front nose would be cheaper over there but either way there are another 2 or 3 companies that make the same looking bar as the Racing Beat type 2.

Yea the 'battle scars' are kinda over the hill now cause alot of ricers started to buy brand new bodykits just to break them and stich them back up for that drifted look.
The stiches will stay but will most likely be painted over eventualy.

Cheers guys!!
Dave

PS someone buy my wheels please
