quick release steer hubs

Postby irwin83r » Mon Mar 19, 2007 5:56 pm

not sure if i should ask here or in another section.

but i was wondering if anyone has used a quick release steering hub before on the track and or road?

reason im asking is id really really like to run a smaller diameter wheel to get a bit more room when racing but as the car is a NB and has an air bag standard i cant change the wheel legaly on the road. so what im wondering is can i run a smaller.. none standard wheel on the track?? and also would this be possible with a quick release hub? or are they not road legal??

cheers

irwin

Quick release hub will not mate to the NB wheel so no real advantage there, and if you're putting a smaller wheel on you don't need to remove it to get in and out, so no advantage there either. And any mod to the steering column on an NB would be 'engineer' territory... Short answer - don't do it. :D

about the only decent QR hub is a works bell, they are about $650.
you have to get rid of the airbag system to use it.

there isnt an interchangable one that i know of which allows the use of airbags.

doubt it.. but it might be possible.

id maybe look at smaller airbag wheels from other manufacturers,
try an evo wheel?
