Hardtop Demister

I just bought a NA hardtop for my NB. Found the heater/demister connector doesn't fit. Anyone know where to get an adapter?

(already tried Mania).

can the NA's hardtop perfectly fit onto NB? (apart from the demister connector)?

have you tried one of those Super Cheap or else where they sell these connectors?

Peter,

Mate seriously you're never going to use it anyway, I never have in the 7 years I've used hard tops. Just keep the rear window clean and use the air con for a few minutes to clean up any misting that may appear.

Better yet drive topless! :mrgreen:

yeah just use the air con.

cos if your rear is fogging then your windscreen will be too..

you should be able to find some on one of the various mx-5 sites

if you really need one then ask mania when they will be getting their next NB wreck in and ask if you can have the demister plug from the soft-top then just put it on your hardtop :mrgreen:

and aircon doesn't always work for example if you park your car outside overnight when it's cold and foggy like it has been the last few mornings, it takes a while for the engine to warm up to get enough heat out of the air vents to heat up the cold window and stop moisture condensing on the outside so you do need a demister
but then most of the time it's just a matter of too much moisture in the air inside the car so the aircon works

The only reason I bought it is that I'm travelling to Melb quite a lot (next motorway is the Eastlink project), and a couple of months ago, got my softtop slashed at the airport. Now having replaced it, I'm not willing to chance it again for the insurance excess and likely bad history.

I found the A/C to be much more efficient at demisting the rear window than the electric demister, unless the misting is on the outside. So like Craig, I very rarely even bother to plug it in when I fit the hardtop.

As for getting the right plug, try Mazda or Mania or have a look at the vendors on Miatanet. Not many other options around really

I'm with Craig on this.
I have never bothered to plug in the demister in the 8 years I've had a hardtop.
For one thing, it's really fiddly to do, and I've never needed it.
I'm also worried that when removing the hardtop, I might forget to unclip the plug and rip it out.
I've never even plugged in the plug for the soft top either.

Wise idea to get a hard top though Peter.
Especially as this is your everyday car.
