Exhaust Manifold Question

Hi,

I'm trying to get my hands on an exhaust manifold gasket from Mazda for an \"unspecified\" project

Mazda parts has told me I need 2 bits? Now I thought there would be just the 1 gasket?

Does anyone know if this is true or not. I'm a bit confused on this one.

The gasket that came off my original headers was in one piece, as was the replacement that went on for the turbo.

MX5PartsUK might be a better bet?

Hi Jules,

Yes there are two separate pieces that make up the exhaust manifold gasket. Both are metal. One of them is actually two pieces spot welded together. Don't know why, just know that is the way it is.

Just saw Boags response. Stacey, Smurfette and Tweety were all the same, ie two piece gasket...and I have seen the microfiche that show both.

It mayq just be a BP thing, but my exhaust gasket from Mazda was a single item triple layer steel jobbie. Two-piece must be a B6 thing.

Go to repco and buy a sheet of metal manifold gasket and cut it yourself. Slap some maniseal on either side and away you go!

Repco have them .. 28 bucks for memory (aftermarket)
you'll need the 'other one too' at the other end!

I might not Ryan. It might still be attached. You mean the flange gasket.
Reckon I need Maniseal? It's been a long time between exhaust manifolds

I got it from Mazda. It's the 3 piece sandwich. Was only about $30 anyway.

Yeah mada quote for teh gasket on teh manifold to head side as well as the manifold to "rest of exhaust" side which is why they say you need 2.

Stay away from maniseal - it is the devils glue.
