Sooooo - not to be outdone by Goags - I mean Boags...

Here is my heatshield. It's not as bling as bling can be, but it's a bugger to make these things from scratch. I don't know how some of the guys get their DIY airboxes/heatshields looking so damn good.....

I'm hoping it does what's needed.

Do it in cardboard first UA, have a few goes till you get it right, then do the final product.

The one Russell did at short notice for the Moneypit wasn't pretty, but it did the job.

Bit late for that now, seeing as I did it last night.....

It's hard to see from the pics, but it wraps around the whole side of the turbo between the turbine and the airfilter, and around the dumppipe, between it and everything else - leaves about 10mm clear space on both sides of the shield.....

It's a good material to work with, but the shaping was tricky..... as the cuts on my hands are proof of.

A great idea, but they are often troublesome with the actuator on internally gated turbos.

Looks like it'll do the job for radiated heat but i'd prolly get a box around that filter too and get the air feed from your old cowl induction, you'll be suprised at how hot it get under the bonnet there! and at how much of a differenc the boxing in of the pod does.

Keep up the good work!!!

That's a bit more together than when I last saw it. :D I would not be leaving that filter there at all. Can't you put it right out the front or something?

your sort of limited to the legnth of the airflow meter wiring

you could legnthen it but where ever you re route it to you still need to have the big dirty AFM!

i say ditch the f'er! so much more creative possiblities!
