Hiyas,

I was just wondering what are the practicalities involved with running an ITB setup? Especially in regards to maintenance - do they need to be re-tuned or re-balanced often?

Do a search for most of the info, but as for retuning i would say no. All the fuel is controlled by computer as would be the spark, and the idle would be a simple one time thing. Or if it must be fiddled with it'd be as easy as a stock throttle body.

Chime in if anyone knows first hand!

I think that you meant synchronisation of the throttle openings, sometimes referred to as 'balancing' with Webers and SUs in the old, bold, days. Balancing is actually a little more involved than synchronising and I suspect unecessary with EFI.

Good quality linkages, will stop you having to synchronise them regularly. It is still something that needs to be checked every once in a while though.

I am thinking of IRTBs for my ultimate engine, possibly adapting some from a 4AG.

Yes I have worked on a few bikes in my time and suffered the frustraions of getting carbs to balance.

No different to a single setup although I did check mine regularly to make sure the two throttle shafts were aligned. They always were. That was mainly because it was a race car. For a roady, if you use the right loctite stuff they will never need to be touched. :)

ps: I still have a brand new Boig 1.8 manifold sitting in my shed.....

Don't worry it was just a lil' innocent question 8)
Either way, I've rethunk my strategy lately and looks like it'll all be a while away yet. Carry on as you were gentlemen (and thanks for the info everyone! :D)
