The Kings Vs Eibach comparisson on KYB AGX

Evening all,

After searching through numerous thread on both kings and Eibach, however im still can't can't get a straight answer.

Can somebody tell me what would be better matched with KYB AGX's which are waiting for me to pick up from the TNT depot :)

things i need to know does the Eibachs ride better than the kings? Do the Eibachs lower the car further than the Kings? is that extra 200 odd dollars (approx guess?) better invested in the Eibachs?

And finally if anyone has pics of kyb agx/king and kyb/Eibach on an NA that would be great :)

i have kings on kyb agx. they are fine. i have heard rumours though that king springs will loosen up and not be as firm after a while. i've had mine in for a year now and im still happy with them. cant say much cause i have never owned a car with eibachs but i would say they would feel the same...if not the eibachs might be a bit stiffer? in the end i think you are just paying extra for a reputable brand name.

Call me biased, but I seriously don't think the Eibachs really justify its price, especially compared to Kings and also if you are setting it up with the AGXs.

For the price of the Eibachs you can get some Teins, or another premium Japanese brand that is excellent quality but relatively unknown in Aus, called KGMM. Hell...you can even get some Tanabe springs, they're even cheaper than Teins or KGMM.

Yes, I am biased :P

yes...but remember just because it has a \"brand label\" on it doesn't mean it is a superior product. generally anything to do with automotive products - you get what you pay for, but for springs i really don't think it matters (coilovers is a different story). i think it just comes down to personal preference and what you have in your wallet. i have kings, my mate has teins and honestly i can't tell the difference. so i would suggest the kings on the agx purely because you save yourself $200.

I concur.

I would definitely choose Kings too. If someone is prepared to fork out the money for Eibachs though, there are other (probably better) alternatives like the Teins or KGMM was what I meant :)

Can't speak for the KYB's, but Eibachs are definately superior to Kings on the Koni dampers.

I've dríven both setups back to back, and have even converted a few Kings owners to Eibachs. Worth the extra - you definately get what you pay for.

The Eibachs are slightly softer in rates, but are a far more compliant ride. They are cold wound from a high quality alloy wire and factor set, and they should never sag. Indeed, I think they come with a million mile warranty in the United States.

The length of the springs is fairly close - you should notice next to no difference between either.

thanks for the input fellas... might just go the kings option for now.. and hey if they sag.. buy another set lol :)

if they sag and you buy another set, then you've lost out havent you and would have been better to go with the Eibach's.

i dont trust yellow springs, i've seen them sag too many times. i have Eibach's in mine, and the ride is so smooth. i called a performance shop when i bought the car asking about the suspension setup it had an the guy just told me not to ever worry about it again, the eibach's are great. if you want a proper opinion on springs then see a suspension shop. they will tell you what the difference is.

personally, i'd get the Eibachs, they will never let you down. the extra is justifiable when you drive it

I'm still you to decide one way or the other..

I'm well aware that any suspension store will tell me that Ebiachs are better, which no doubt is backed up by their reputation world wide and warranty.

However i guess I'm after peoples real world experiences. For what the car gets used for Kings will probably do fine.. at the other end of the spectrum I generally only like to do things once.. so perhaps i might swing towards Eibachs if I get them at a good price.

re: prices from what ive seen so far kings are about 1/2 the price of the Eibachs ? unless somebody can show me otherwise.. i would definitely go the Eibachs :)

The Eibachs are better, but that's not to say the Kings are rubbish. You'll be happy with either - it's just that'll be slightly happier if you spend more (of course, your wallet may not be happier). :D

i paid $1300 for my kyb/king setup. installed.
BLECK 2002 Mazda MX5 NB8B. Custom Heatshielded CAI . KYB AGX's + King Springs. 17\" Bleck Rims. Custom BASSSS Install.

I got new Konis fitted to the wifes XTrail just after Christmas by the local Fulcrum guys. They were ordered 4 months before and we had to wait for the shocks to come in. I have bought suspension from this one guy for the last 15 years and I have learnt to trust his opinion.

I asked him what he would recommend for the MX5? (mine is obviously not stock, but they had no idea what was in it)

His position on road springs for the MX5 (and most other Japanese cars) was the Eibach is the only spring to recommend. He will sell Kings and Lovell, but recommend the Eibach as the quality is great as he doesn't get stiffed with returns or partial failures (like sagging I suppose). In his opinion the TIENs were overspecced and too stiff for the road, but was happy to sell them if the customer really wanted them as the markup was good.

I have no personal experience with Kings, Tiens or similar so I will not comment personally about longevity or ride differences.

I am very happy with the Eibachs on my car, but I only have the stockies to compare them with. If I hadn't got such a good deal on my Eibachs, I would have bought springs from K-Mac. Very good reports on their product from friends in Sydney.
