This could be yet another part of the NC that could blow-off without notice. Have you considered taking extra insurance?

Don't forget guys that the NC is sold in around 100 different countries and they couldn't really justify the expense of tooling up a plate holder just for Australia.
And even if they did mould a special holder for us, which size plates should they model it on? There are about 4 or 5 different sizes available around Australia.

A number of countries don't even require front plates (most states of the USA do'nt require them) and others allow stick on plates, so where should Mada turn?

What they've done, is produce a front plate holder that fits most of the world's number plates, and it is in plastic, so it's easy to trim off to the right size anyway.
Dealers may be lazy in not trimming it for you, but they are there to sell cars, not modify plate holders.

to add to that, i believe mazda did a great job on the 3rd gen MX-5 (NC), there maybe some minor bugs, i.e blowouts, but the improvement from the NA and the NB is immence, people may rant about things they dont like, and that is ok, but in my eyes, i think mazda have done a great job, hell if you dont like so many things about the nc, then either change them or dont buy it, simple.

WHAT???!!! Are you saying the NC also suffers from Blow-outs as well as Blow-offs? Wow...

I realise this is a sensitive issue with you AJ... I'm just trying to get to the facts of the matter. I thought that as a NC owner you have a vested interest in knowing the faults in your vehicle? Inane personal comments add nothing to the debate.
