Cams supersprint tyres

Postby Ren » Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:18 pm

Apparently these tyres are legal as they are DOT? Approved

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... odel=R3S04

Read manufactures warning below

WARNING: DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires meet Department of Transportation requirements for marking and performance only and are NOT INTENDED FOR HIGHWAY USE. It is unsafe to operate any Hoosier Racing Tire including DOT tires on public roads. The prohibited use of Hoosier Racing Tires on public roadways may result in loss of traction, unexpected loss of vehicle control, or sudden loss of tire pressure, resulting in a vehicle crash and possibly injury or death.

Let the tyre wars begin.

The tyres are legal for the NSW Cams supersprint this year, I found this out only the other day. A competitor was using them on Sunday at round 1 in SVC class, apart from car performance & driver ability he was a good 3 seconds faster 52 sec to 49sec @ OP south.

they are most definately not road legal, but they could be cams approved. best option is to check on the CAMS website, might find some info there?

Type SV
“Tyre types, sizes and aspect ratios are free, provided that the tyres are of the treaded type and are commercially available for road use. Excluded specifically are racing slicks and those tyres marked for “racing use only”, or words to that effect.”

I would imagine that the manufacters warning below would come under

Still at this stage the tyres have been allowed by CAMS
