How to adjust drivers door

My drivers door has dropped a mm or so, how to adjust the hinges so it closes easily?

The Enthusiasts's Workshop Manual doesn't help much - just says adjust the hinge bolts - I can see how to raise/lower the whole door, but not just raise the outer edge.

It feels like the top hinge pin has worn, if the door is rocked up and down there is some movement.

If there is movement in the hinge then it's time for new hinges - you can't adjust that out.

depending on your gaps you can shim the bottom hinge out a little

probably no more than .25 of a mm as the legnth of the door will add up!

really need very thin washers not sure where you would get .25 -.5 mm from

maybe bunnings a piece of .5 colourbond and make a washer out of it

I know it's dodgy, but I've always used carefully shaped bits of coke can for shims...

A mate of mine a few years back had a thing for a Suzuki Swift GTi. As we all know these were built out of Coke cans, and the doors would begin to droop every 10,000km or so.

His solution? Open the door as wide as possible and (gently) lift up at the very end of the door. Worked like a charm.

There's a squarish rubber block on the door frame below the latch, black thing the size of a bar of soap. Genuine replacement cost is $12.50. It's there to help locate the door and stop it rattling. Check it out - some are very worn or have chunks torn off.

My block is in good condition, the door rides up onto to it a little when the door shuts.
