Attention SP and Turbo owners

Postby Sean » Thu Feb 15, 2007 6:32 pm

A while back a few of you were looking for a supplier for teh cool aluminium sandwhich that some of us have made heat shields out of.

Well I've seen it popping up cheap on ebay so thought I'd post here. Looks like the guy is a parts dealer, so I dare say he can get the stuff fairly easily...

Nice find Sean. 8) That stuff works great guys. It makes a big difference to under bonnet temperatures and in very easy to work with.

Sorry for dragging up an old post.

Is this stuff self supporting, bendable or does it have to mounted to something?

I'm thinking of using it for a shield around a pod filter. Never seen the stuff before so I thought I would ask.

it's self supporting. Exactly how easy it is to form I don't know but it can be formed with a die press pretty easy so "not too hard I'd say".

It's very formable, easily bent by hand and it can support itself. If you have a look in an XR6 Turbo engine bay you will see it used extensively. It's also popular in European cars.

This will give you an idea of its ability to be formed into complex shapes.

Yeah, very easy to form to basic shapes by hand, and once you get it to teh shape you want it pretty much stays there.
