NA6 stopped dead. Electrical issues.

Patchy's stopped dead.
Driving along very merryly this morning.....stop dead.
stalled....wouln't start again.
so the basics......
Its got plenty of battery power.
Its got 1/2 a tank of petrol.
Its got spark.

Not sure about petrol.
so assuming its got no petrol....why not.

so since its been so long since i've had this sort of trouble....I got no idear where to start. :lol:

I suppose i should check all the fuses first..... which fuses?

any help is appreciated.

phew, where to start....

Does the fuel pump work??

Check EFI relay, fuel pump relay and fuse, ECU fuse, crank angle sensor... Those would be my first checks STM. Edit: in no particular order, do the easy ones first

Oli put the mockers onya mate :lol:

wind on it for a few secs, then pull a plug & see if it's wet............just to make sure you have fuel at the bit that's sposed to go bang.

Hmm... find out whether its fuel or a spark problem. Pull of a plug and look for an arc when trying o crank it over.

If there is spark move onto fuel.... pull another plug and check if its wet.

If there both good then im out of ideas

Ok so where exactly are those located

I know there is a fuse box in the engine bay. across the other side are some relays. One of which I'm sure belongs to the cooling fan. There is also a small fues box under the dash on the drivers side......but that may be for the alarm & fuel cut off system installed.

I would dread if it had anything to do with the mess under the dashboard.// Its been butchered by some alarm install.......

but first things first.

done that...its got spark.

havent pulled another spark plug out.

not sure if the fuel pump is working.

is the fuel pump cming on when you tur the key to the 'on' point?

should beable to hear the it start it runs for about 15 seconds

if you are in a quite place you can put your hand on the rocker under the door and feel the car hum when the pump runs

if it doesn't run you can ground the pump so it runs and try and start it then this will prove problem with fuel pump!

was it a straight cut off or did it cough a little then stp?

Did you get the car home Stefan, or is it stranded outside some sleazy bar on the North Side?

If you have fuel and power check the main ignition relay - about $35 from Mazda for the NB one. I carry a spare for mine after Dave had two fail... Otherwise follow the sage advice of the rest of the guys here who know more than me about these things...

cant recall exactly....I stalled it. Or at least i thought i stalled it. then when it didn't start straight away so i thought i had drowned it. but it never started again.

There seems to be no hiss....... so I'll check that out again.....maybe now.

Big Dog....Its about 10min walk away from Home in a safe street.

If the plugs are dry after you wind it over a few times then there's no fuel getting through - could be faulty pump, faulty wiring, fuse or blocked filter.

AJ......it is funny. as its been sooo long that i've had any of that kind of trouble. best way to deal with it is to have a chuckle. Plus in the end.....i'll be the winner anyway as i'm getting plenty of good help I'm also sure its something very simple.

Check your Main Relay for the ignition...this is exactly what happened to my car Stan. Mania fixed it for $50...even though towing there cost me an arm and a leg!

EDIT: just saw what BigDog wrote...Check the Main Relay mate
