Hey guys. Just thought I would put up some pics of my latest updates.
First I got vent rings....Nothing special there
But when combined with new chrome gear knob, handbrake lever and new boots it starts to give you a bit of a headache
Gear knob is from Mx5parts.co.uk and it is the new tear drop shaped one. First impressions are that that it feels much nicer to shift but it could have done with gear markings on the top and also it would have been good to have a plastic sleeve inside to insulate from the heat. The ebay short shifter that I have gets really hot after a long drive so I'm presuming my gear knob will as well. We shall see. The handbrake lever is from the same place and it is perfect. Couldn't ask for more especially with the chrome button. Last is the gear and handbrake boots that I got from Mrgaiter.com and they are a work of art. Custom made to fit and they look the bomb . Hope you guys like.
Cheers Ben

The gap looks worse in that photo than it is in real life. Oddly enough that is the proper 2 din console and the tv is meant to be 2 din as well. Maybe they were using different rulers

The mods look great mate, keep up the good work and keep us posted for any further/future mods. I always wanted to put a 2din touch screen tv/mp3 player in my car but thought that its too close to the gear knob and am paranoid about thieves. how do you find it in regards to the gear lever...still can see everything and functionality?

The old 1-DIN and 2-DIN problem; every manufacturer has their own idea of what is standard and how much space to leave....why do you think all the aftermarket slide-in jobbies come with over-sized clip on bits?
A bit of black foam (with one adhesive side) works wonders in most instances.....attached around the frame near the front.

MX5-less; need another!

You can see everything fine on the tv. Even when it is at it's maximum viewing angle you can still change gears with no contact at all. The only thing I can say about theft is that you take a chance, there's no hiding it but I don't park in many dangerous places either. Take my wives crap box for that . In my opinion the double din looks more cohesive and suits the interior better than a motorised one.
